Electrolysis Guidelines & Info.
Permanent hair removal is exactly that, permanent. And like most good things, it takes a little time and consistency to get there. Everyone's hair and timeline are a little different, and together we'll find an approach that fits your lifestyle and supports your goals.
What to Expect
Your comfort and skin health are always the priority. I may need to gently adjust or reschedule if:
The service area is under current medical care or has recently had a procedure
The skin is showing active changes, irritation, or unexpected texture
You have used oral isotretinoin (Accutane) within the past 12 months (I'll wait until you're at least 12 months clear before your first session)
Not sure if something applies to you? Just reach out. I'm always here to support you.
Hair Length I need a little something to work with:
No waxing, threading, sugaring, depilatories, or tweezing for at least 2-4 weeks prior
If you shave, allow about 1/8 inch of regrowth, roughly the size of a grain of rice
Best rule of thumb: shave 4-5 days before your appointment for ideal timing
Skin & Body Prep
Keep the area moisturized in the days leading up to your visit
Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 48 hours prior
Skip exfoliants, AHAs, BHAs, and retinol for one week before
Please wait at least 2 weeks after Botox, fillers, microdermabrasion, microneedling, laser, or IPL
Day of Your Appointment
Complete your intake form in advance, so our time together is fully devoted to you
Arrive with the service area clean and free of makeup, lotion, deodorant, or topical products
Have a light snack beforehand; arriving on an empty stomach can increase sensitivity
Reduce caffeine a few hours before for a more relaxed, comfortable session
Wear loose, comfortable clothing, especially if we're working on a body area
Stay well hydrated; hydrated skin makes for a smoother session
These are general guidelines to support your comfort and results. If anything has changed since you booked or you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Preparing for your Electrolysis Visit
After Your Electrolysis Session
Mild redness, warmth, or a settled sensation in the service area is completely normal and temporary. These simple steps will support your skin in the days following your visit.
For the First 24-48 Hours, Please Avoid:
Touching, rubbing, or friction on the service area
Tweezing, shaving, waxing, or threading
Makeup, scented lotions, deodorant, or self-tanner on the area
Hot showers, steam, saunas, or high-intensity exercise
Direct sun exposure or UV tanning
Pools, hot tubs, or saltwater immersion
Active ingredients: AHAs, BHAs, retinoids, or vitamin C
Restrictive clothing that creates friction on the service area
What Will Help:
Keep the area clean, dry, and simple
A cool, dry compress can ease any surface discomfort
A small amount of pure aloe vera gel can provide gentle soothing relief
Allow any tiny surface specks to flake away naturally; please don't disturb the skin
Stay well hydrated to support your skin from the inside out
Keep your skin care routine minimal and fragrance-free for a few days
When to Reach Out Please don't hesitate to contact me if you notice prolonged redness, unexpected swelling, unusual breakouts, or anything that simply doesn't feel right. Trust your instincts; there is no concern too small.

Frequently asked Questions
Q: How many sessions will I need?
A: It varies from person to person, since everyone's hair grows differently. Most areas need a series of sessions to catch hair through its natural growth cycles. How many depends on the area, how dense the hair is, and your past hair removal habits. The most reliable path to permanent results is staying consistent over time, and we'll map out a realistic plan at your consultation.
Q: What does electrolysis feel like?
A: Most clients feel a brief, quick sensation or a flicker of warmth with each hair. Everyone's different, but it's usually mild and passes quickly. I'll always check in on your comfort and adjust as we go.
Q: How can I reach you?
A: You can reach Nurtured Soul Wellness by phone at 341-233-4851 or by email at hello@nurturedsoulwellness.com.
I'm always happy to answer questions about electrolysis or my skin care services and help you figure out what's right for you. Whether you're ready to book your complimentary consultation or just want to know more about what to expect, I'm here to help.
Q: Is electrolysis suitable for all skin types?
A: Yes. Because electrolysis doesn't rely on pigment, it works on every skin tone and hair color, including gray, light, and fine hair that laser can't treat. It's a truly inclusive option.
Q: How soon will I see results?
A: Most clients notice gradually smoother skin over time rather than all at once. Because hair grows in cycles, progress builds with each consistent session. It's steady rather than instant, which is exactly how permanent results are made.
Q: Can I receive electrolysis while pregnant?
A: Electrolysis is a non-medical service. Because every pregnancy is different, I recommend checking with your healthcare provider before booking, so you can make the choice that feels right for you. I'm always happy to work around their guidance.
Q: How does electrolysis differ from laser hair removal?
A: They use different technology for different goals. Laser is FDA-cleared for permanent hair reduction, and it works best when there's strong contrast between hair color and skin tone, so it can struggle with gray, light, or fine hair. Electrolysis doesn't rely on pigment, so it works on every hair color and skin tone, and it's the only method the FDA recognizes for permanent hair removal because it destroys each follicle directly.
